As promised, today we will look at the best time of day to exercise for optimum benefit. Your peak physical strength is Kapha time, which is between 6 and 10 a.m. and therefore is the best time to get in a work out. Another good time is between 6 and 8 p.m. Exercise after 8 p.m. is not recommended as it will disturb your sleep patterns. The worst time of day is between 10 in the morning and 6 in the evening. During Pitta time (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) you are more likely to overstretch yourself causing potential injuries. Your body is at its lowest physical strength during Vatta time (2 to 6 p.m.). Exercise during this time will seem difficult and not enjoyable. So there you have it. You will have a greater chance of incorporating exercise into your routine if you fit it into your day either before work or between 6 and 8 p.m. Of course these are only general guidelines and if you are happily fitting in a work out at any time and are able to sustain the frequency, then good on you! Keep up the good work!!!
